- Monitor Growth: Assesses fetal growth and amniotic fluid levels.
- Check Placenta: Examines the placenta’s position and function.
- Typically Performed: Between 18 and 22 weeks of pregnancy, during the second trimester.
- Ultrasound: Uses high-resolution ultrasound technology to create detailed images of the fetus.
- Examination: Focuses on the fetus’s organs, limbs, brain, heart, spine, and other structures.
- Detailed Imaging: Provides a thorough examination of fetal anatomy, often used to detect structural abnormalities such as heart defects, spina bifida, or cleft lip.
A Level II Scan, also known as a Level 2 Ultrasound or Detailed Anatomy Scan, is a comprehensive prenatal ultrasound performed to assess the fetal anatomy and overall health in greater detail than a standard ultrasound.
